Double-Michelin starred chef Marcus Wareing’s next book to be published by Transworld.

Doug Young, a Publishing Director of Transworld, has acquired British and Commonwealth rights, from agent Grainne Fox, to Nutmeg and Custard, the next book by one of Britain’s most talented chefs, Marcus Wareing.  Nutmeg and Custard will be published by Bantam Press in September 2009.

If you have ever wondered what a Michelin-starred chef cooks at home, Nutmeg and Custard gives you the answer.  This is Wareing’s definitive guide to the kind of food you want to eat with your friends and your family, whether it’s for special occasions or a normal weekday supper.

Beautifully illustrated throughout, Nutmeg and Custard will include over 150 stunning recipes by the new reigning king of food, including baking and puddings, and from swanky entertaining to the best popcorn recipes ever written.

After working at The Savoy, Aubergine and l’Oranger, Marcus Wareing opened Pétrus in1999.  Within seven months he had won a Michelin star.  In 2001 Pétrus was named AA Restaurant of the Year and in 2004 Wareing was voted Restaurateur of the Year at the Tatler Restaurant Awards.  In 2007, he received his second Michelin star for Pétrus, now based at the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge.  In 2006 he became well-known to British audiences when he reached the final of BBC 2’s ‘Great British Menu’, and he appears regularly on BBC 1’s ‘Saturday Kitchen’.

In August this year Pétrus was named London’s best restaurant by Harden’s Guide.  It has also moved up four places to the number three position nationally in the just published 2009 edition of The Good Food Guide.

Recently, Marcus Wareing announced that Pétrus has been renamed Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley.  The restaurant was relaunched on 15th September 2008

Books Monthly is published on the first day of every month. If you'd like me to publish a story you've written, please e-mail me at editor@booksmonthly.com ~ no payment, I'm afraid, as I don't make any money from the magazine. The length of your story is no problem - long or full-length stories can be serialised. Similarly, if you have a feature article on a book, author or artist you would like me to publish, e-mail it to me and I'll fit it in. Deadline for inclusion in the next month's magazine is 15th of the month
